Yarn feeding devices which utilize air flow have come to play an important role in textile industry.
Setting airflow pressure higher than necessary leads to the damage of yarn as well as a loss of air power. This paper analyzes the optimum condition of yarn feeding operation, focusing on an air jet as well as air flow in pipe. The air jet is analyzed in terms of air jet velocity and air drag of yarn. We also ran a simulation and observed the behavior of running yarn using a high-speed camera.

Everyone uses the PDA(Personal Digital Assistant) now. However, when this is actually used, we need a place to use it. Moreover, it is necessary to cultivate skills in operating it.
However, a terminal without these problems would be convenient. To operate this PDA,we have used a detection on method to detect a hand in an image. To detect a hand smoothly in the background which possibly includes flesh colored region, we used a technique called template matching. If the program can recognize where a hand is in the image, we can operate the terminal using our hands.

Our Advanced Engineering Course aims to produce engineers who are capable of harmonizing technology with the natural and human environments. So, a solar power system with a 10 kilowatt range was installed at the Advanced Engineering Course Building. The solar power system has generated electric energy since March 2002. In this paper, the solar power system is described in detail. Also, the monthly generations, efficiencies from sunlight energy to electrical energy, and average temperatures at our college have been reported through December 2008.

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) photcatalytic thin films were prepared by sol-gel method. These films were characterized by the presence of the crystal by the measurement of X-ray diffraction and the surface observation with a the optical microscope. This research aims at preparation of TiO2 thin film of the Anatase type crystal known to have an especially strong effect of the photocatalyst.
Moreover, to confirm the effect of the photocatalyst, the resolution of methylene blue solution was experimented. It was refined that the condition of making the crystal of the Anatase type from this experiment. And, the effect of the photocatalyst was confirmed.

Today, the computer is often used to compose music. It's easy to play music made with computers, but it's difficult to write scores of music because knowledge and sense of music are needed, and we have to make great efforts. If we have computers write scores automatically, we can save a lot of efforts. In this study, I detected pitch from sound data which is the basis of the automatic score writing. This paper is going to talk about algorithm of pitch detection by Fast Fourier Transformation. Because of the use of Fast Fourier Transformation, this method can manage large data in quickly. In this process, I can get data for the frequency spectrum. It read off spectrum value, sure to get value of the pitch.

Recently, the contactless IC card and the IC tag have become widely used. We developed an IC card and IC tag that cooperate with the computer network as an application of the infor mation management system in the book lending system of the library. The access area of the memories of the IC card and the IC tag were designed. The system consisted of the client, which dealt with reading the IC card and the IC tag, and the server, which was certified the user, saved the user's record of lent books on the card and stored the information in the data base at the same time. This report describes the preliminary results.

This paper describes a waveform recording system for biological signals. The system consists essentially of a PIC (Peripheral Interface Controller) and a MMC (Multimedia Card). The electronics circuit of the system is shown. The basic characteristics were measured. The 10-bit analog-to-digital conversion with a sampling frequency of up to 2 kHz was confirmed. When the waveform was recorded, the system consumed an electric current of about 10mA. The ystem can be continuously recording for about 100 hours using alkaline AAA batteries.

Recently it is often reported that broken pieces of concrete happened to fall from tunnel linings or concrete walls, and its cause is supposed to be improper construction joints called ' cold joint. Consequently the durability of concrete structure has become a social problem.
In this report, the influence of the construction joints upon flexural strength of concrete is measured. Some simple and effective methods which may be able to estimate the setting of concrete in order to prevent an occurrence of the cold joint is discussed experimentally.

Masonry buildings have less seismic performance than other structures. This paper describes the seismic evaluation and retrofit for unreinforced masonry school buildings in Tabriz, Iran. Tabriz is located in the northwest of Iran and is in danger of experiencing a large earthquake. Considering the cost and average construction technology in Iran, we suggested buttress as a proper retrofitting method. In order to estimate the amount of reinforcement, we applied the Japanese Standard for seismic evaluation of RC buildings, and considered the applicability of the standard to masonry buildings.

In this paper, we report that historical materials (Details dimension) aren't adequate in the construction site of the improvement based on a hearing investigation. Added to this, we propose one of the concrete methods using existent material.
