In Japan, where the population is shrinking, the promotion of tourism is considered important because tourism generates disposable income from outside the region, and therefore effective demand. The uniqueness of local resources for tourism attracts visito rs to the region. However, uncompetitive regions in tourism market only rely on the uniqueness of the resources and lack the ability to create new values for tourism by using them. This paper focuses on tourism in Odawara City, Japan and examines how to create new values for tourism with use of existing local resources.

The purpose of this study is to clarify the situations in which the Japanese word “sumimasen” is used and to help foreigners understand this word. From the example sentences in the corpus, I analyzed these situations and I could identify nine different cases: “a situation in which the speaker negatively influences the listener”, “a situation in which the speaker is not able to perform the expected action”, “a situation in which the speaker's behavior can be detrimental to the listener”, “a situation that is undesirable for the listener”, “a situation in which the speaker forces the listener to perform an action”, “a situation in which the speaker greets the listener formally and politely”, “a situation in which the speaker draws the listener's attention as a call to action”, “a situation in which the speaker greets the listener formally and politely”, and “a situation in which the speaker searches for words as fillers in conversations”. Thus, there is a wide range of situations in which the Japanese word “sumimasen” is used in everyday communication.

This paper focuses on Bolt's role words in “sports role language” “Ore” and examines the role words of men's athletics. As a result, the personal word “Ore” is used for short distance races, but the word “Watashi” is often used for medium to long distance races and field races. The short distance race has a competitive image and a 1: 1 rivalry relationship, while the medium and long distance races have a stoic image, and the last 400 meters are the starting point of the race. Moreover, it is difficult to create a one-to-one rivalry between middle and long distances. In addition, field events are not often reported as they are not as popular as sprints. It can be said that this affects the use frequency of role words. In addition, even though field events are attracting attention, male field athletes do not have stronger and more belligerent impressions than male sprint athletes, and there are fewer black field athletes (espec ially throwing events). Therefore, it is considered that the reason for the role of “Ore” in field events is that it is easier for male field athletes to have an image of smartness rather than strength.

In this paper, based on the definition of literacy, we explored multiple literacies in Japanese language education and aimed to create a new index that could not be evaluated by the conventional four-skill index. The multimodalization of “writing” and “drawing” confirmed the expansion of images, the influence on the five senses and emotions, and the promotion effect on skills that are weak. In addition, by expanding the images, the students were able to recognize all kinds of representations inherent in the individual, such as “individual history”and “individual culture”, as “narratives”. It can be said that this study has uncovered the complex literacy inherent in learners, which has not been evaluated until now, through the new indicator of “drawing”.

During the Corona Epidemic that began in 2020, Japanese language schools have undergone a major change in their educational format. However, there have been limited opportunities for public discussion of any findings pertaining to Japanese language school education. This paper will explore the impact of the coronavirus epidemic on Japanese language education in Japanese language schools, with input from international students and full-time teachers. As a result of the interviews, it was found that online classes can affect students’ motivation to learn, providing a viewpoint to consider the diverse class development in Japanese language schools in the future.
