An oxygen balance method using a Constant Volume Sampler (CVS) was investigated as a fuel consumption measuring method for fuel cell vehicles (FCV) that does not require vehicle modification. Because a highly accurate oxygen concentration measurement is required, the technology for measuring oxygen concentrations in the environmental atmosphere was used. In each phase of the WLTC (Worldwide Light duty Test Cycle), differences between the gravimetric method and the oxygen balance method using the CVS ranged from -4% to 0.5%.
