    We investigated the applicability of the 3D CFD code HINOCA to diesel engine combustion. The results show that the spray and combustion model implemented into HINOCA can correctly simulate the development of fuel spray and its combustion phase under the conditions for an in-cylinder diesel combustion phase such as high pressure and temperature ambient conditions, and high-pressure injection. The results for diesel engine combustion simulation showed good agreement with experimental results regarding in-cylinder pressure and heat release rate profiles with varying boost pressure and EGR ratios.
