To quantitatively investigate the history of medical device research in Japan, we analyzed Japanese titles of “Annual conference of Japanese Society of Medical Instrumentation (JSMI)” during last 45 years using text mining. All general and topics presentation titles (4379 presentations) between 1975 and 2022 were collected from article databases, and the text of titles was analyzed using the KH Coder, free software for quantitative text analysis of the Japanese language. Several research categories were identified through multivariate analysis of frequently appearing words. Also, coding rules were created to assign presentation titles to these research categories, and the categorization results were analyzed quantitatively. Sterilization and infection control regarding surgery were principal categories in each age, with the availability and evaluation as the major area of research. In the 1970’s and 80’s, research and development of artificial organs and biomedical measurements were actively reported in JSMI, but there were notably less in recent years. Medical device safety area such as clinical engineering, maintenance management and traceability were significantly increased since 2000’s. Our findings suggest that there has been a shift in the dominant research area of medical devices in Japan.

In this study, we have developed a comprehensive current monitoring system with extended functions existing current monitoring devices, while preventing power outage accidents due to overcurrent in medical institutions.

The current measurement circuit was fabricated using a current transformer sensor and a Raspberry Pi. Using this circuit, could be measured in a manner equivalent to that in a clamp meter without being affected by harmonics from the power supply. The measured values are uploaded from the Raspberry Pi to the MySQL server via HTTP communication. The latest current values and usage trend graphs are displayed on a dedicated monitoring screen. The system could be easily installed on or removed from existing power installations.

We considered that the daily monitoring of currents could prevent power supply interruptions due to overcurrent, raise awareness regarding the proper usage of power supply, and improve the efficiency of current usage status confirmation by clinical engineers.

This system can extend the capabilities of existing current monitoring devices, making it a powerful tool for the safe and appropriate use of power supplies in medical institutions.

This sterilization management section assumes reprocessing disposal of medical equipment and supply service of the existing sterilization article duties.

Class and order rearranging and the contents addition of the attached document of the medical equipment were performed in the notification about the attached document from Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in of October, 2014 and harmony February, 3 to give it an order to start.

However, difficult documents appeared after the notification too.

The attached document of the medical equipment takes a role to lead a medical equipment user, both reproduction processing people in charge to the medical security.

I narrowed down a focus to "appropriate washing, sterilization" in the reproduction disposal of reusable medical equipment from an attached document of the medical equipment to keep this time and performed the contents investigation.

As a result of investigation, plural problems appeared. I suggested the solution to these problems.
