Sapporo Medical University Library is a library attached to Hokkaido Medical University. Since its foundation in 1950, the library has been developing local medical support service, and it reshuffled the past services and ensured higher quality by initiating operation of library system at the time of opening the new library in June 1999, and by starting a scholarly portal system, "MetaLib/SFX" in July 2002. Users of the new local medical support services spread all over in Hokkaido, and services of the MetaLib/SFX system stimulated new demands for them. Here reported are the local medical support services by Sapporo Medical University Library and introduction of the scholarly portal system, "MetaLib/SFX", and future challenges to be assigned.
The fifteen years of progress of the Shimane Hospital Library Association (the Network of Hospital Libraries in Shimane Prefecture) are looked back. Referring to other networks' activities and results, the role of the university library is reconsidered and its future projects are viewed.
Effects of bias to association score and derived score from association score of terms were examined in chartization of "summaries". The bias that applied to association score of terms extracted "title" or "introduction" made chartization of all summaries possible. This might reflect a tendency of documents with one point or a few points.
JDream was developed as a simple and easily comprehensible search site. Therefore, people who are unfamiliar with biblio-graphic searches can reach convincing results by using JDream. However, if you know some tips on searching on JDream, you will get better results. Among such tips the author selected and mentioned the following five points at a workshop in Kyoto on 16th Nov., 2004; 1) full-text searching, 2) how to download search results, 3) searching with the 2^<nd> JIS kanji characters, 4) how to reach specific results with thesaurus words, and 5) the link to Medical and Pharmaceutical Proceedings Full Text Database. On this article the author describes 1)-3).
With the development of information and communication technology, the use of information devices has become popular even at fields of nursing education. E-learning in Japan has started at the corporate education and various contents for different or separate places have been developed and used actively in school education or lifelong education. E-learning is used in the field of nursing education but those examples are small in number. This paper introduces the definitions of e-learning and shows how the author has been working for it. The present situation of e-learning in basic nursing education and continuing nursing education is surveyed, and the role of e-learning for nursing education is summarized as well.
