Progress of the pollen fronts of Cryptomeria japonica and Chamaecyparis obtusa in 2022 were monitored by tracking the first day of pollen release from these species using a Durham sampler at 81 sites for the former and 72 sites for the latter between Kyushu and Hokkaido in Japan. The results showed that by the middle of February, the C. japonica pollen front had passed through all of Kyushu, parts of western Chugoku and Shikoku, as well as the parts of Kinki, Tokai and southern Kanto. By late February, it had passed through central Chugoku, eastern Shikoku, almost all of Kinki, central Chubu and Kanto. By early March to midMarch, it had reachedparts of Hokuriku, northern Kinki and parts of southern to northern Tohoku, although it had already reached some areas in this region in late February through early March. By late March, it had reached the northernmost tip of Tohoku and the eastern parts of Hokkaido. It finally reached central Hokkaido in early April. The C. obtusa pollen front was first observed in the southern parts of Kanto. By midMarch, it had reached all of Kyushu, central Chugoku, southern Shikoku, the parts of Tokai and southern Kanto. By late March, it had passed through the Chugoku, Kinki, Chubu, Kanto and Tohoku regions. By early April, it finally reached several small areas in Kinki, Hokuriku, Tohoku, and it should be noted that it was also observed in the suburbs of Sapporo City in central Hokkaido.
