In order to evaluate the stress and the strain near the contact interface between a biocompatible metallic material and a bone tissue, measurement by the synchrotron radiation white X-ray obtained in the BL28B2 beam line of SPring-8 was investigated. The small steel ball was pressed onto the specimen of bovine femur cortical bone, and the strain of the long bone axial direction near the contact point was measured. The strain distribution peculiar to a bone tissue, which has anisotropy, was indicated, and, the beta titanium thread assuming the implant was thrust into the specimen of bovine femur cortical bone, and the strain near the contact interface of the beta titanium thread and the bone tissue was measured using synchrotron radiation white X-ray. As a result, the compressive strain by pressing load was widely distributed over the bone tissue and the beta titanium thread. However, the tensile strain occurred in the screw thread of the beta titanium thread near the defect of bony thread part. It was confirmed that this method was valid in evaluation of the internal strain of the minute region near the interface of the bone tissue and the beta titanium screw thread.
