The purpose of this study is to explore the possibility of developing multi-layered accompanying support for junior high school students and their households who, despite their need for continuous support, do not receive appropriate support or may stop receiving support after graduation. Therefore, the study first reviewed the need to ensure continuity of support, the concept of accompanying support, and the discussion on community social workers and the “gap” of support. Furthermore, practical examination is provided based on collaboration between the community social worker and the junior high school teachers.

From these analyses, this study reveals the following. Community social workers can be a “margin” to bridge the “gap” of support. This “gap” of support is both the “horizontal collaboration” between the school, profession, and community, and the “vertical collaboration” that focuses on the life stage change of “graduation.” In addition, it is possible to expand the “margin” for organic collaborative relationships (based on emotional empathy) toward the construction of a comprehensive support system. Based on the practice of community social worker’s “layered margin functions”, it was suggested that there is a certain possibility of developing a multi-layered accompanying support system that continues even after junior high school graduation.
