In this paper, the universal fundamental equations necessary to calculate the deformations and member stresses of any plane rigid framed structures, which are applicable to the neighbourhood of critical state, are derived, and the methods of solution of these fundamental equations are explained. At the same time, a consideration is made on the buckling and elastic failure of the rigid framed structures.
The procedures and the elastic behaviours are explained by examples of the calculations for specific trusses and vierendeel trusses.
