In this paper, the authors have advanced the theoretical investigation in the former paper to the bridge piers embedded in the elastic foundation, and by carrying out the model tests they tried to confirm whether it was adequate or not to assume that the embedded parts of structures were supported not only vertically but also horizontally by the so-called equivalent soil prisms.
