Dynamic behaviors of a bridge under the several pulsating forces show the resultant vibration as the results of combination of each individual vibration. In such case, the phase differences of fundamental vibrations from each other have a certain influence upon the resultant oscillation of the bridge. Therefore, in this paper, the authors consider that these phase differences occur at random under the various traffic conditions, and they stochastically clarify that the values of the impact coefficients are reduced successively according to the loading length.

The reduction of velocity in the free rocking motion of a rigid body on a rigid base has been hitherto explained on the basis of constant angular momentum. According to this theory, an abrupt reduction of velocity, in other words energy of motion, is justifiable, when the rigid body falls down on the base, even in the ideal case neglecting energy consumption.
This paper reports observations and considerations on the free rocking of the graphite prisms on various bases, and it has been clarified that the application of the law of constant angular momentum is not suitable and the reduction of energy must be explained by sliding, elasticity, sound or others.

In this paper, the author introduced a fundamental equation for water flow with vertical velocity distribution taking the flow bed into consideration. This equation is isommorphie with the fundamental equation of the subsonic flow of air. And the author performed calculation on the water surface profile around bridge pier by applying the Imai's theory in the subsonic or supersonic flow, which was developed by W. K. B. method used in the solution of Schrödinger's wave equation in quantum mechanics. And furthermore, the author performed experiments by using a steel framed flume and the theoretical results showed good coincidence with the experimental ones.

This is a report of a theoretical and experimental research on the dynamic consolidation of clay. In this paper, assuming that the clay constitution has the rheological model proposed in the preceding paper, a fundamental formula concerning the dynamic consolidation is derived, and the experimental results are analysed in order to give some quantitative characteristics of dynamic consolidation of clay.

The author has estimated the lateral forces imposed on the turnout curve by a 2-8-2 type locomotive and has measured the bending moments in the lead and the stock rails under the locomotive. These estimations and measurements show that
(a) the pony truck assumes the extreme position of its side play,
(b) the flanges of the leading wheel and the first driving wheel are in contact with the outer rail of the turnout curve and exert great lateral forces on the railhead,
(c) the vertical load of the leading wheelson the inner rail is reduced by the lateral force and the wheel runs the risk of derailment when it hits the guard rail of the turnout,
(d) the flange of the driving wheel near the centre of friction is in contact with the inner rail of the turnout curve, and the slack must be increased to decrease the lateral force,
(e) a large lateral force is imposed on the stock rail outside the point rail, when the locomotive leaves the turnout curve and runs against the stock rail, because of the incident angle of the point rail.
