Effect of Chlormadinon acetate (CMA) on human benign prostatic hypertrophy was studied by a double-blind trial using Paraprost (PPC) as control.
Measurements made before and after treatment demonstrated improvement in most of the assessment items both in CMA and PPC groups. CMA group showed significant improvement as compared with PPC group in assessments of dysuria, loss of force of urinary stream and rising of bladder base (significant level: α=0.05) and retardatory urination (α=0.10). Global judgement that CMA group signi ficantly exceeded PPC group at α=0.10 was given.
Diarrhea was observed in each one case of both groups. Decrease in potents was found in three cases of CMA group. No side effects on liver and renal function were noticed in both groups.

The alleviating effects of medazepam on the excessive rise in the blood pressure induced by psychologically noxious stimuli were investigated using the mirror drawing test in 22 patients with essential hypertension. The double-blind study was carried out by the cross-over method. The alleviation of the raised blood pressure during the massed task of the MDT-performance for 6 min. in medazepam-phase was greater than that in predrug or placebo-phase. It can be concluded that the minor tranquilizer has an excellent effect on lowering such an excessive rise in the blood pressure which may probably lead patients to unfavorable complications.

Clinico-pharmacological and pharmacokinetic studies on trans-4- (2-amino-3, 5-dibromobenzylamino) cyclohexanol hydrochloride (NA 872) which is a metabolite of Bromhexine (Bisolvon), an expectorant, were carried out in ten healthy male volunteers.
Seven volunteers were administered orally 5, 10, 20 and 30 mg of NA 872 in each 2 subjects, and three volunteers received three times of 15 mg a day for three days.
The increases of bowel sounds and the slight increases of dermal blood flow were observed in some volunteers after administration of drug. On the other hand, there were no definite changes in heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, GSR, and ECG and laboratory findings.
Analysis of the drug in blood and urine with gas chromatography and pharma cokinetics revealed that NA 872 given orally was well absorbed, and excreted rapidly, and that the majority of main part of the drug was excreted as NA 872 conjugate and a small part was metabolized to NA 873 and dibromoanthranilic acid.
In conclusion, it can be said that blood levels in repeated medication agreed with the estimated values on the basis of single medication, and there was no tendency of accumulation of the drug.
