Payload and equipment mounted on honeycomb panels of artificial satellite are exposed to intense random vibro-acoustic environment during launch. In order to describe how payload components vibrate by the sound excitation along with certain margin regarding uncertainties in the early stage of design, this paper deals with the method to predict the random acoustic vibration of equipment mounted on honeycomb panel. This makes the prediction of local vibration possible to analysis by conbining Statistical Energy Analysis with Finite Element Method.

This study investigates the mechanical properties of carbon nanotubes by using molecular dynamics simulation with Tersoff-Brenner potential energy function. Different strain rate and different temperature are applied into the simulations of both zigzag nanotubes and armchair nanotubes. The results show that mechanical properties of nanotubes are sensitive to the strain rate and temperature conditions.

Reverse engineering is a process to convert real objects into digital data and has received a lot of attention recently. In reverse engineering, reconstructed models are represented by four-sided patches. Problem arises when an originally smooth part is expressed as an edge at the boundary between adjacent patches. This paper presents a method of modifying B-Spline/NURBS surfaces to meet G^1 continuity. The proposed method uses knot insertion to make breakpoints and enables calculation of the appropriate control points at those breakpoints. By using this method repeatedly, it is possible to join a boundary between adjacent patches with G^1 continuity.

There are complicated phenomena such as a red tide and a blue tide that cause serious problems and food chain at a coastal zone. It is extremely difficult to clarify interaction processes among those phenomena only by using experimental approaches. We focus on a flow in a shallow water area and we develop a finite element analysis code with a shallow water long wave equation for solving the problem. In this research, we especially implement a function of considering monitored wind flow precisely in the simulation. To validate fundamental reliability of the simulation, it is applied to sea water flow in Tokyo bay.

A large-scale finite element method is one of the most effective approaches to realize quakeproof simulation of structures. A parallel finite element analysis code, ADVENTURE, is an open source code and widely distributed. In this study, we aim at developing quakeproof simulator using the ADVENTURE system, in order to verify a detailed elasto-plastic response of a skyscraper against a long-period ground motion. As a preliminary study, a parallel elastic seismic analysis of a medium-sized steel frame structure, which models a part of skyscraper, is performed.

Computer simulation as the substitution of experiment can demonstrate its advantage in respect of cost and time restriction in a field of traffic phenomena where a lot of elements crosswire. In the multi-agent based simulation of the past, agent's cooperation is rarely considered though an individual agent has autonomy. The present study aims at improving the reproduce ability of reality by adding car agent's cooperative behavior to the framework of intelligent multi-agent based traffic simulator being developed in our laboratory.
