This paper focuses on corporate communication in Japanese universities, which are facing various changes and challenges, such as declining birthrates, globalization, and digital transformation (DX), from the perspective of corporate communication in general. The current status and characteristics of corporate communication in universities are discussed based on previous studies and case studies. We choose seven engineering universities as cases from the perspective of training IT engineers to contribute to DX promotion.

It has been suggested that use of animals can increase effectiveness of advertising and brand. However, previous studies have not shown such effect. In this study, we investigate how animals can be used to increase advertising effectiveness and brand. A research question for this study is: "How can animals be used to increase advertising effectiveness and brand?" We tested following hypotheses. Hypothesis 1: Companies can attract consumers' attention by using animals in their logos and products. Hypothesis 2: Companies can increase effectiveness of their advertising by using appropriate animals in their logos and products. Hypothesis 3: Companies can make social contribution and achieve brand lift by supporting animal welfare activities.

With the amendment of the Specified Consignment Commercial Transactions Law, when advertising the sales conditions of goods by mail order, it is stipulated that a special return contract for goods and rights and the matters should be displayed. If no return policy in the advertisement can be seen, the product can be returned at the consumer's expense within 8 days. Therefore, it is expected that the number of returns and exchanges will increase more than ever. Therefore, from the perspective of an EC (online mail order) business operator, this study will consider the policy of prompt, safe and secure return response which is trusted by the purchaser and the setting of the return acceptance level in the management strategy, based on specific case studies as a CX, or Customer Experience.

This paper focuses on "Japanese tea cafes" run by tea farmers in a declining tea production area. Since green tea is also a "luxury item", consumers want to visit the tea production areas for "fragrance" and "taste" in addition to "price". This is a demand that will increase the added value of green tea in the future. "Japanese tea cafes" can also be expected to revitalize production areas in the future, as they provide a place where consumers can directly ask for the green tea that they desire to the producers and thus uncover a new demand for green tea.

In 1841, the economic and fiscal reforms started under Ieyoshi TOKUGAWA, the 12th Shogun, or Brigadier General. Tadakuni MIZUNO, one of the member of Shogun's Council of Elders, played a key role in these major reforms, named the Reform of TENPOU. In this period, various policies were adopted. This paper focuses on the economic and fiscal side in the Reform of TENPOU, which included many other aspects including rules of life. With the rise of the SDGs, the innovations in reuse, sharing and rental economy are attracting attention so the purchase and sale of second-hand luxury branded goods is growing significantly. Companies handling second-hand luxury goods have created new markets by systematically training skilled appraisers with abundant product knowledge and the ability to distinguish between genuine and fake items, by making a company go public, by conducting mergers and acquisitions, using Information Technology, developing overseas markets, and improving logistics efficiency. In this paper, we will discuss case studies of major companies using Everett Rogers' "Five Adopter Categories" model as an analytical frame.

This paper proposes a real-time detection system using Raspberry Pi and a cascade classifier to guide pedestrian signals for the visually impaired. It is desirable for the visually impaired to have a device that notifies them of the signal status at hand while they are on the move, which is easy to carry. For this purpose, it is hoped to connect a web camera to a Raspberry Pi, a small computer with excellent portability, to recognize the status of pedestrian signals and communicate it to the visually impaired. We use a cascade classifier to detect a blue signal as a preliminary investigation. Experimental results demonstrate that our system can detect the signal with precision rate of 0.909 and recall rate of 0.845 in image-based evaluation. Also, it can detect the simulated signal data with the Raspberry Pi is easy under daylight conditions, especially for LED-based signals.

In Meiji Period Japan, Hidesaburo Saito was called a titan in English studies due to his syntactic analysis of verbs and predicates in his grammar books. Saito (1898) classified the verbs in the same way as shown in the Five Sentence Forms; however, no attempt has been made to clarify how he developed his syntactic analysis. This paper primarily investigates the transition seen in his syntactic analysis of verbs and predicates in his grammar books; closely examining books which described the syntax of verbs and/or predicates, and how Saito was influenced by William Swinton and John Collinson Nesfield.

Since Dec. 2019, people’s behavior has been drastically changed caused by the epidemic of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. In Japan, since infections are commonly reported on facilities where many people gather, the government recommends that to take thorough infection prevention measures in such facilities. To reveal densely populated areas is important for planning infection prevention measures in each region. Therefore, in this study, we estimate a relative population density of facilities in Narashino, Chiba. Specifically, densely populated areas are calculated by the kernel density estimation based on the point-type floating population data. Moreover, we specify and classify facility types that infection prevention measures should be reinforced by the relative population density. Experimental results imply that the heavy restriction of people’s behavior is important in terms of infection prevention.
