Many studies have been conducted to explore the factors that determine a performance of the individual player or team in the volleyball, and they have found that some specific motions for the individual player or team have an influence on their performance. However, there is a shortage of empirical analysis on the determinants of match results, it has not been clarified yet. This study applies an econometric method and empirically examines the determinants of match results using a sample of Men's Matches in Kansai University Volleyball Federation from 2014 to 2017. The result shows that the average number of the block is the most important factor to win the match.

Volleyball currently faces many difficulties in Japan. In particular, the acquisition of people involved in volleyball is one of the most important and urgent tasks. Attractiveness has been considered as a contributing factor to increase involvement in sports. For popularization and advancement of volleyball in Japan, we attempted to clarify the attractiveness of volleyball. Therefore, the aim of this study was to examine and visualize the attractions of volleyball. Through an open-ended questionnaire survey, data regarding the attractions of volleyball were collected from 77 university students (45 males, 32 females; average age 20.68 ± 0.68 years) who took a sports science class using volleyball. A qualitative analysis was conducted to extract the attractiveness features of volleyball, which were categorized based on the closeness of response meanings using the KJ method. Two hundred and sixty-eight valid responses that were obtained from the survey were mainly classified into six categories: “team sport,” “specific playing structure,” “playing,” “spectating,” “interaction with other persons” and “outcome for affection.” Results indicated that the participants involved in volleyball understood the six attractions, and which were connected to each other. Additionally, this suggested that transmitting the attractions will be a motivation for starting and continuing involvement in volleyball. Therefore, we should aim to discover further attractive inherent characteristics of volleyball by refining the six attractions. This will not only help solve the various tasks, but also increase involvement in volleyball and advance the value of the sport.

In this research, we aimed to grasp the present situation in the world of snow volleyball, confirmation of the rules referring to the CEV rule book 2017, grasp of the current situation through on-site inspection of the European Championship held in Austria from March 23 to 25, 2018, and a questionnaire survey for CEV officers through the three surveys of the present situation of snow volleyball and the future prospects which we see through, to clarify future development possibilities and issues to adopt the Winter Olympic Games . Based on the results of the survey, the following was clarified. ① With almost all the rules except that the score is 11 points, competitions are held in accordance with the same rules as beach volleyball. ② The first European championships were held in Austria, and 1,100 spectators stated in three days, and the audience was on the verge of success. Almost all the competitors participated in the beach volleyball experience, and at this stage I heard that the position is being positioned as beach volleyball in the summer and snow volleyball in the winter. ③ FIVB and CEV are starting to focus on promoting the snow volleyball, and there is a move to push up to the official event of the winter Olympics in earnest. Continuing to grasp the trends in the world as well as to think about the possibility of dissemination in Japan, it seems to be necessary.

The purpose of this research is to consider measures to realize more full psychological support from the practice of psychological support. Empathic listening support provides athlete independence and satisfaction. Counselors should reach actively to the athlete. For example, greetings, sharing information on athletes with their head coach, role to convey the head coach’s thinking to the athletes, to advise skills that generally necessary for social workers, and leading athletes to focus on the process that is striving.
