As wild animal tracking systems, positioning systems with GPS and PHS technologies have advantages against conventional technologies in terms of accuracy etc.' On the other side, these systems require more power consumption and this results in a device weight increase. When devices attached to animals, the weight of them should be limited. Therefore, in designing a tracking system, the number of position fixes per hour, power consumption, duration of use, battery selection, total weight should carefully be determined because these elements have trade off relationship. Taking this relationship into consideration, we developed tracking devices with the PHS technology and applied them to crows in urban areas, which showed effectiveness.

In this paper we present a new type AFM・FFM instrument designed, drawn, and constructed this by ourselves. The demands for measuring super finished surfaces are increasing in my faculty very much, however it is said that the commercial AFM costs as much as \30,000,000 or more. We have determined to develop the AFM・FFM together in 1997 and we have found out its principle, mechanism, electrical circuits and experimental data. We have newly applied the kinematic mounting in this in instrument which is supporting and adjusting samples to be measured. A circuit consisting of a position sensitive detector(PSD), and an integral circuit for data summation are manufactured and an optical lever method is applied for small amount of Si_3N_4 cantilever displacement detection. We have succeeded in measuring a Si grating pattern, compact disc surfaces, artificial sapphire surfaces coated by Al_2O_3.

Seiko Instruments Inc. watch design department introduced 3 dimensions CAD(Unigraphics) in 1994, and began to use it for the movement design. And we also began to use CAE(computer-aided engineering) at the same time. This time we used 3 dimensions CAD and CAE from plan-design stage of the new Digital Watch. We could develop this digital watch having a world's first curved surface panel as a mass product.

With "New Eco-Drive Watch" , a flexible film solar cell is placed within the case and around the circumference of the dial. Since this eliminates the need for light to pass through the dial, the result is great freedom in the selection of the dial material and numerous design possibilities.

Recently, the installation of the gyro becomes a essential for popularization of the navigation system of the car and increase in the control application of the unmanned carrier of the factory. Therefore, the development of the vibration gyro with the cheaper and more simple structure is required in comparison with conventional mechanical gyro and laser gyro. In this study, using vibration gyro which utilized cantilever beam of circular cross section as a vibrator, analysis and trial manufacture of detection principle are reported. The theoretical results show that the value X/Y is proportion to λ when λ ≪ ζ. Here, λ and ζ are the non-dimensional presentation of the angular velocity detected and the damping ratio of the vibrator, respectively. Moreover, the result was ascertained by the experiment.

This paper describes a newly developed wrist watch type color digital camera. The optimal system design reduces power consumption of the watch circuit, monitor display and data storage processing. Six months life of a coin type lithium battery is realized. Especially this paper focuses on the system design.
