We succeeded in developing an ultrasonic micro-motor with a diameter of 4.5mm and a thickness of 2.5mm.This motor uses the standing wave method so we can drive it by only a one-phase electrical signal in two directions.Therefore we can construct a self-oscillating drive circuit easily.This motor has a very hight torque(the starting torque:0.27gfcm at DC 2.8V).We applied this motor to a calendar mechanism in a watch and succeeded in miniaturizing and simplifying the mechanism bacause of the volume and the torque of the ultrasonic micro-motor.
To obtain the information of human activities, human motions were measured and evaluated by a newly developed measuring unit.The measuring unit includes small-sized accelerometers and vibrating gyroscopes.They are arranged as they detect 3-axis components of the acceleration and the angular velocity.We developed an algorithm to identify the gait patterns(flat, upstairs and downstairs walking, fast walking and running)of the subjects in their twenties, based on the acceleration and the angular velocity measured at their waist.
GPS(Global Positioning System)developed by United States America is the system for finding user's position on the earth.We use this system, developed the outdoor watch with "Current position measurement function"and "Navigate to place of destination function".
