The precipitation behavior of MnSe and MnS in 3mass% Si grain oriented electrical steel is an important factor in secondary recrystallization. The observation by transmission electron microscope (TEM) showed that the orientation relationship between MnSe and bcc iron was (001)
α//(001)
MnSe, [010]
α//[010]
MnSe, [100]
α//[100]
MnSe On the other hand, the interfacial lattice between MnS and bcc iron was less compatible than that between MnSe and bcc iron. Estimation of an interfacial energy is necessary to consider the precipitation behavior. The interfacial energies of MnS and MnSe in bcc iron were calculated by using ab initio. The results revealed that the interfacial energy of MnSe was smaller than that of MnS.
