Sleeping is essential to life of many living organisms on earth, especially mammals. Required sleep time varies depending on constitution and age, and is determined based on whether a clearly awakened condition can be maintained during daytime with no drowsiness. Generally, 6 to 7 hours of sleep is sufficient for adults. Sleep disorder includes various sleep-related problems, including insomnia (disorder of initiating sleep, interrupted sleep, drug-induced sleeplessness, etc.), excessive somnolence (narcolepsy, spasmodic excessive somnolence, etc.), circadian rhythm sleep disorder, sleep-related respiratory disturbance (sleep apnea syndrome), restless legs syndrome/periodic limb movement disorder, and sleep drunkenness (sleepwalking, rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder, sleeplessness caused by PTSD, etc.). In this study, we describe a 38-year-old female who began to have problems in her daily life due to sleep disorder in January 2015. She was treated with six courses of aromatherapy, after which changes of QOL were evaluated using the KK scale.
