Employing Yarmor F Pine Oil, Nikko Oil No. 125, Du Pont Oil No. 22, MIBC, Dowf roth No. 250 and Takasa Froth No. 5 as examples, frothing characteristics of f rother solutions were studied.
Froth height and bubble diameters in aerated solution and in froth layer were estimated at varying concentrations, temperatures and pH values of f rother solutions.
It was found that there are close correlations among f rother volatility, froth height and bubble diameters of f rother solutions, all these being naturally related to the molecular constitution and constituents of f rothers.
Some consideration was given to the adsorption velocities to account for these correlations.
The writers consider that froth texture and viscosity of solution contained in the froth, -these two being themselves interrelated-, are important among factors affecting results of ore flotation.

The work indices of various iron ores in the world were measured. From the values of the work indices of the iron ores, the powers required to grind the iron ores were estimated. And thus, the grindability of the iron ores was investigated.
The results obtained are as follows:
(1) The work indices of the iron ores are ranged from 6.22 to 17.40. The work indices of the Santa Barbara ore, the Santa Fe ore and the Chile ore are greater than 17 and these ores are remarkably hard. The work indices of the Goa ore, the Indian ore and the Kiriburu ore are 17-11 and these ores are medium hard. The work indices of the Korean ore, the Hainang island ore, the Sibuguey ore and the Brazil ore are smaller than 11 and thus these ores are comparatively soft to grind.
(2) The powers of ball mill required to grind the various iron ores were calculated by Bond's equation And it is recognized that the power required to grind the Santa Barbara ore which is remarkably hard ore is about 3 times larger than those of the Brazil ore and the Hainang island ore which are the soft ores.
(3) The power calculated from the work indices were compared with the power of ball mill used in practice. As the results, it is recognized that the power calculated from the work indices are a little smaller, than the power of the mill used in practice.

Recently, the utilization of ultra-sonic wave has been developed in the fields of engineering.
For the mineral processing use, authors have studied for the last few years, and in his report the following problems are discussed

3) Leaching by ultra-sonic wave
4) Emulsion of oleic acid by ultra-sonic wave

Recntly in Japan, the demand of aggregate for concrete and road construction has increased enormously and it has therefore been necessary to use crushed stone in place of river gravel. Here arises an importance of the preparation technique of high quality crushed stone.
Among the various processes of Benef iciating gravel and crushed stone, jigging process such as Remer jig and heavy media separation process has been carried out successfully in some foreign countries.

Tsuchihata mill had been constructed in 1924, to produce the copper concentrates from 400 tons per day of crude ores with all slime flotation.
Then, its operations had been considerable improvements. However, we started, in 1963, a new plan of reconstructions, to improve the mill efficiencies and the mineral recoveries our.
In our projections, we have taken a simple flow sheet as well as we may.
The plant was separated into several sections, and each section had been constitutive unit process in it. And their equipments were arranged compactly in narrow spaces.
The interesting properties of our plant were shown as follows;
(1) Though mined ores are very huge, they were crushed by only two stages crushing for the purpose of simplification of plant.
(2) After the main portions of ores, except slimes, are ground with a tricone mill, the ground ores were treated with Cu-Sp bulk differential flotation using 14 cells of #48 Warman f lotator and 16 cells of #21 F.W flotator. These machines, such as tricone mill and Warman flotator, were chosen because of their high efficiencies.
(3) The slimes had been contained considerable quantities of soluble coppers, so that we have taken L-P-F process in a slime flotation.
This paper describes on the outline of reconstructions and some details of operating data.
