This aritcle reports on the counseling process using the "Image Drawing Method", of a mother who complains of multiple childcare stress for one year. In this paper I would like to consider the validity of the Image Drawing Method especially in cases of the initial process of the counseling, intake interview, and limited counseling. We know that there are parents who can't explain their concerns fully because of their worry and strain, for example, in a situation of health examination for infants. In these cases I often use "the balloon-imaged drawing method" for parents when I understand they are under stress. Drawing balloons which show their emotions, human-relations, and stress make it easier to explain their confused stressed minds. The image drawing method is used in this case not only in the early period but also in the later counseling processes. This counseling process is divided into 5 sections : 1) Introduction period, 2) The period which solves bad terms between the client and her husband, 3) The period which makes fulfillment of client's mind and deters child abuse by using token economy, 4) The period which seeks independence, 5) The period which confronts and compromises with her mother. The main process and consideration is as follows ; (1) In the early period, drawing a balloon image has made her childcare stress clear. Moreover it was considered that her stress led to child abuse. (2) Using balloon image, we can decide how to deal with her stress. One stress was that her husband didn't show leadership in the home, and she always compared him with her father. Another issue was her pressured mind which was caused by her mother, becuse she didn't have a period of rebelliousness in her growing-up process. Then she tried to change her idea to have leadership herself too, and also tried to join the ballet-school in order to recover composure and deter child abuse. These efforts made her presence of mind clearer. In this case, we found a certain validity of the balloon image drawing method in several processes of the counseling. However, it was considered that the balloon often causes fractured images. If we use this method, we must pay attention to clients' character and guidance.
