We developed a new type jet-fan to satisfy the renewed specifications, which requires higher exit-jet velocity than the conventional one with keeping its efficiency and noise level. The NACA 65 airfoil section and half vortex flow pattern are applied to rotor blade to obtain higher blade loading. The blade loadings at the front and rear rotors are experimentally investigated by changing the solidity of rotor blade. The pressure-rise at the front rotor increases as the solidity increases. In contrast, the pressure-rise at the rear one slightly decreases as the solidity increases. The optimum solidity therefore provides the good efficiency with high exit-jet velocity. The noise level of the new jet-fan is much lower than that of the conventional one. We make sure that the developed jet-fan contributes to reducing the initial and running costs of the modern tunnel ventilation system and solving noise problem.
