In the present pump, the impeller with double volute is magnetically suspended in a fluid. The impeller rotates with minimal fluctuating which is caused by fluid force and magnetic force. Therefore, it is necessary to carefully investigate the pressure distribution around the impeller and fluid force on impeller in order to improve the rotation stability. Two models of the pump with different volute cross-section area are studied by the use of computational fluid dynamics software. The obtained results show, in both models, that the distribution of time average pressure is approximately point-symmetric and that the harmonic behavior of the fluctuating pressure is observed. The pump characteristics and fluid force acting on the impeller prove to be clearly different between two models
