Especially for the small ships without steering engines, it is convenient to adopt the increasing-power steering gear apparatus because of the steering power becomes larger as its helm angle increases. In the first part of this paper the author investigated the two mechanisms known as Rapson's Slide and Harfield's steering gear apparatuses. In the second part the author described the two kinds of new increasing-power steering gear mechanisms. One of them is the combination of the principle of differential gears and that of Rapson's slide, and the other is the modified type of the Harfield's gear apparatus. The estimation methods of the hand power for steering the ships without steering engines are shown in the Appendix.
