     In Japan and overseas, Chugai Pharmaceutical Company handles numerous biopharmaceuticals, molecular targeted therapies and other pharmaceuticals with innovative modes of action. Expert safety evaluation is essential for promoting the appropriate use of these pharmaceuticals around the world and in gaining acceptance from patients and healthcare professionals (HCPs), while speedy decision-making is crucial for the timely collection and provision of safety information and thus ensuring safety. In 2015, we collected safety information on more than 180000 cases and evaluated it from a medical standpoint. We have established a system for recording the collected information in a global database, and are conducting signal detection of adverse drug reactions using this database. With this system, we promptly disclose information to regulatory authorities in Japan, the US, Europe and Asia. We have in-house medical doctors with abundant clinical experience who conduct expert safety evaluations. Many innovative drugs, such as anticancer drugs or biopharmaceuticals, require wider-ranging, more rigorous management, including the provision of appropriate safety information to HCPs, management of distribution through wholesalers and dispensing pharmacies, and confirmation of conditions of use, in addition to all-case registration surveillance. With progress in the development of individualized medicine and drugs with new modes of action, in order for HCPs to understand the characteristics of these new drugs and use them appropriately, pharmacists and pharmaceutical companies should cooperate in promoting their appropriate use in the spirit of ‘All Pharmacists for Patients’.

    第三次産業の労働災害が増え続けている.中長期的にみると製造業や建設業の労働災害は顕著に減少する中,第三次産業の労働災害が未だ増え続けていることは極めて憂慮すべき事態である. このような状況の中,本稿は小売業を対象に,労働災害発生状況の中長期的推移,労働災害データの詳細分析等,労働災害の実態を把握し,加えて小売業の労働災害防止に係る各種行政施策のレビュー,労働災害防止団体,産業団体等へのヒアリング調査を行い,各種行政施策を講じても労働災害が減少しない原因を探った.さらに,大手企業における労働災害防止活動の先進的取組の調査,様々な業態をもつ小売業における業態別特性を踏まえた安全上の課題の抽出等を行い,これらを基に,今後の小売業の労働災害防止活動の推進方策を提示した.

    We focus on the triangle consisted of men and organization, technologies, and cutomers and market and also discuss their management considering not only individually but also as a whole. Men and organization can take the initiative to solve the visible or invisible problems existing between needs and seeds by seeing the real entity, joining the information and so on.
    The results say that management utilizing complements and organizational learning by feedback do work well and play important roles in the sustainable growth of the company. They are very important and critical to stretch the span of attention and communicate intensively and richly enhancing the value of information by feedback approach. This gives the competitive power based on the thinking strategy and is different from and transcendental of the business strategic approach.

    The Japanese Society for Quality Control promotes quality control survey and research projects for the purpose of contributing to development of academia, industry and society. The quality control, which once drove high economic growth in Japan, is still “a fundamental strategy,” remaining as bedrock of customer-value-centric business management. In the society where innovative technology development is being accelerated to be deployed in the near future, however, customer value also changes rapidly and drastically. Only those organizations which succeed in accelerating their plan-do-check-act cycle will be able to attract customers and ensure their sustainability. To accelerate a plan-do-check-act cycle, it is necessary to 1) acquire and reuse diverse operational and strategic knowledge related to creation of customer value and 2) make an effective use of big data to identify and address customer needs. In order to adapt to, rather than become at the mercy of, the plando-check-act cycle acceleration, an organization needs to pursue a business management approach to leverage not only the plan-do-check-act cycle techniques in the real world but also those in the cyber world. Once the foundation to address customer needs is established in response to changes in the society, an organization, if it aims at achieving further success, must focus on “quality-driven business management to support innovation strategy” built upon the fundamental strategy. The quality-driven business management to support innovation strategy is defined as approach to address “quality” in a broader sense and promote it as “customer value creation.” To focus on promotion of “customer value creation with emerging changes reflected,” the Japanese Society for Quality Control launched activities of “Service Excellence Division” and “Production Innovation Division” in October 2018.

    本稿は,1997年の損害保険の自由化以降,急成長を遂げてきた自動車保険を主力商品とする通販系損保(「ダイレクト損保」)の過去10年間のマーケティングを振り返る。2009年度の通販系損保9社のマーケットシェアは,自動車保険全体の5.4%まで拡大している。ダイレクト損保の揺籃期のマーケティング手法は,テレマーケティングが主体であったが,その後,インターネットのeコマース技術を応用したWebマーケティングが成長の原動力となってきた。ダイレクト損保は,ここ10年間で保険料,事故対応コスト,営業コストのそれぞれにおいて,大手対比,大幅な引き下げを実現してきた。しかし,保険引受利益面では,保険料比較サイトによる価格競争の影響もあり,ビジネスモデルとして十分とは言えない。今後の10年間は,Webをさらに活用した新しい顧客サービスの開発競争が激化するものと予想される。

     In recent years, as the market has seen the appearance of innovative medical products with novel mechanisms of action, adverse reactions that cannot be expected from the approved product label are being detected in the postmarketing phase. It is increasingly important to undertake timely product label updates and other drug safety measures through the monitoring, early detection, and reporting of adverse reactions. In 2013, the risk management plan (RMP) system was introduced in Japan. An RMP documents efforts to ensure the safety of a medical product, and sharing the RMP with stakeholders results in enhanced postmarketing safety measures. Healthcare providers have already started to utilize RMPs, but issues with perception and utilization remain. The industry, regulators, and academia are also working together to facilitate the use of RMPs. With the implementation of the RMP requirement, pharmaceutical companies are seeking to improve safety assurance by enhancing their drug safety functions, including the collection, assessment, and dissemination of drug safety information. Chugai Pharmaceutical is starting a completely new approach to patient-focused information provision, exemplified by the “PMS & SAFETY DB Tools,” designed to give healthcare providers quick access to its extensive database of real-world drug safety information. This paper introduces Chugai Pharmaceutical's new efforts to manage adverse reactions and raises issues for future consideration.

    In this paper we addressed the problem how social interactions, especially P2P (Peer to Peer) communication, set trends. We made a multiagent-based model to investigate the issue. The agents are computer programs that act autonomously and behave individually. In this artificial society, the agents demand goods that they want to consume as well as they can produce and consume goods. They try to barter their goods with one of the other agents that is selected randomly. They make their own evaluation of each good based not on global information in the market but on local information shared with their trading partners: They assume the goods, which their trading partners demand, to be popular. They can also demand the goods that they think very popular by themselves and exchange their evaluation of the popularity when they trade with other agents. We pointed out that, in this situation, agents' evaluation of the popularity can be concentrated on some good one after another, which can explain a mechanism of the concentration of popularity.
