The high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) procedures were developed for the determination of plasma gliclazide, a new sulfonylurea with anti diabetic property. Normal-phase HPLC on Lichrosorb SI-60 column, reversed-phase HPLC on Lichrosorb RP-2, RP-8, RP-18, Nucleosil C₁₈, Jasco SC-01 columns and anion-exchange HPLC on Diaion CDR-10 column were examined for determination of plasma gliclazide.
Among them, the following two HPLC methods were selected for high theoretical plate and good separation from plasma components.
1) Reversed-phase HPLC on Jasco SC-01 column with methyl alcohol: 0.2% acetic acid =3:2 (v/v) as mobile phase [retention time; gliclazide: 16min, IS (tolbutamide): 10min].
2) Anion-exchange HPLC on Diaion CDR-10 column with acetonitrile: methyl alcohol: 1.2M ammonium perchlorate=4:3:7 (v/v/v) as mobile phase [retention time; gliclazide: 14min, IS (methyl benzoate): 19min].
The extraction with phosphate buffer(pH 7.0) gave no interference of plasma components on chromatograms of the anion-exchange HPLC. The relationship between the plasma levels of gliclazide and the peak height ratio (gliclazide/IS) by the two methods were linear (correlation coefficient,r=1.00) in the range of 0.3 to 10μg/ml plasma. Each reproducibility (CV) of the two methods was 4.0% on reversed-phase HPLC (n=8), 3.5% on anion-exchange HPLC(n=12), respectively. The detection limits were 0.2μg/ml on the two methods.
The two methods agreed well with the GLC-ECD method. The decay curves of plasma gliclazide in seven diabetic patients given 80mg of the drug orally were determined by HPLC. Reversed-phase HPLC or anion-exchange HPLC was shown to be suitable for the assay of gliclazide in plasma. The latter was available for routine clinical examination because of good stability of packing.

In order to examine fragrant components, the essential oil of the flowers of Paulownia tomentosa STEUDEL was examined and, as the odor substances, hydroquinone dimethyl ether, 1-octen-3-ol, cis-3-hexen-1-ol, l-linalool, benzyl alcohol, phenethyl alcohol, benzaldehyde, anisaldehyde, ethyl palmitate, phenol, cresol (o-, m-, p-), 3, 4-dimethoxyphenol, and 12 kinds of volatile acid were identified. Apigenin, ursolic acid, β-sitosterol, campesterol, stigmasterol, β-sitosterol-β-D-glucoside, caffeic acid, p-hydroxybenzoic acid, p-coumaric acid, 3 kinds of fatty acid, and 17 kinds of normal paraffine were isolated from the steam distillation residue, as odorless components.

Gliclazide is a hypoglicemic drug that highly binds to plasma proteins, but it is little reported about pharmacokinetics of free gliclazide which has a hypoglicemic action. In this study, we had an aim of establishing the HPLC method to measure free gliclazide and clarifying the effect of some diseases on it. Calibration curves were linear in the range of 0.2-10μg/ml (r=0.999). The limit of determination was 0.2μg/ml (C. V. 2.8%). Binding of gliclazide was not influenced by FFA under conditions employed and was dependent on bovin serum albumin (BSA) concentrations in vitro. In clinical, area under the curve (AUC) of free gliclazide of NIDDM with liver cirrhosis (n=3) was twice that of NIDDM without complication (n=8).(2.7±0.2 vs 1.3±0.2μg·hr/ml)

胆汁結石の成因との関連が示唆されているヒト胆汁中γ-カルボキシグルタミン酸 (Gla) の測定法を設定した。胆汁中のペプチド結合型Glaは11mol/l水酸化カリウム液を加えて110℃, 20時間の加熱で遊離型Glaに転換し, o-フタルアルデヒドで蛍光化したのち, カラムスイッチングを用いる蛍光検出 (Ex345nm, Em445nm) HPLC法により測定した。検量線は76～7600pmol/ml の範囲で直線性を示し, 検出限界は4pmol/ml (標準溶液) であった。平均回収率は98% (n=5) であり, 測定精度 (CV) は1.9～4.0% (n=4) であった。

A hydraulic servo system which has quick-response characteristic, high positioning accuracy and high power by itself is often used in an air plane, a construction machinery and the center of a vibratory testing machine. Several papers for application of Neural Network to servo systems have been reported. Most of them were for systems which have slow speed response characteristic such as pneumatic servo systems. Recently applications to improve the characteristic of a hydraulic servo system, a vibratory waveform control system and so forth are studied. In this study, we applied Neural Network to the hydraulic servomechanism directly and discussed about the basic characteristic such as convergent problem of output waveform for reference input signal and stability problem of the system. The result were as follows: (1) When the Neural Network is applied to the hydraulic servomechanism and learns with the plural number of times in one sampling interval, the theoretical convergent conditional equation could be obtained and confirmed by the simulation and the experiment. (2) In this control system, there are convergent and divergent domains. And we found that the stable and unstable areas existed in the convergent domain.

Inosine 5′-phosphate has been synthesized by heating isopropylidene-inosine with mono (or di)(tri-n-butylammonium)-, mono (triethylammonium)-, or monoanilinium phosphate in dimethylformamide followed by removal of the protecting group. Similarly, from isopropylidene-adenosine, -guanosine, -cytidine and -uridine, the corresponding 5′-nucleotides were obtained and rom thymidine, its mono- and di-phosphate. Furthermore, inosine 5′-phosphate and 5′-diphosphate were prepared by heating isopropylidene inosine with tri-n-butylammonium-pyrophosphate or -polyphosphate.

交通事故によって脊椎圧迫骨折を受傷した場合，自賠責の後遺障害認定においては，残存した障害の程度に応じて後遺障害11級～6級（脊柱の変形障害または運動障害）に認定されることとなっている。他の体幹骨骨折等と比較すると，上位の後遺障害等級に認定される。　後遺障害によって労働能力が減少（喪失）し，それによって将来の収入を減少（喪失）させる場合，この損害（逸失利益）を加害者側が被害者側に賠償することになるが，脊椎圧迫骨折の場合，治療終了後（症状固定後）も事故前と変わらずに就労を行い減収が生じていない，減収が生じているとしても少ない場合もあり，この逸失利益（労働能力喪失率，喪失期間）について裁判で争われるケースが散見される。本稿では，近年の裁判においてこの脊椎圧迫骨折の逸失利益についてどのように判断されているのかを分析し，損害賠償上の妥当な範囲について考察した。

A Wide-Band(150MHz) and High-Voltage(60Vp-p) Video Output Hybrid IC has been developed. It has become possible that electro magnetic interference from display is controled by this Hybrid IC. This Hybrid IC has a three-channel high frequency amplifier and a blanking function.

Effect of components of culture media for anerobic bacteria on the sensitivity of various Clostridia to chlortetracycline (CTC), tylosin (TI), furyl-furamide (FF) and nitrofurazone (NFS) have been examined.
Test organisms were 9 strains of stock Clostridia including Clostridium perfringens, Cl. tetani, Cl. histolyticum, Cl. sporogenes and 3 types of Cl. botulinum, in addition, 10 strains of Clostridia isolated from fish sausages and fish hams, species names of which were shown in Table 2. Culture media employed in this experiment were the thioglycollate medium (TGC), the brain heart infusion medium containing 0.1% agar (BHI+A), and the BHI medium covered with sterile liquid paraffin (BHI+P) which were adjusted to pH 7. Minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of test drugs were determined in the respective medium containing binary dilution series of each drug after being incubated at 37°C for 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours.
Results obtained may be summarized as follows:
1. As to CTC, no significant difference in MIC values was observed according to the kind of culture medium, while these values varied markedly by the length of incubation period which might be due to the instability of CTC in the culture media (Figs. 1 and 2).
2. In the case of TI, much higher MIC values were noted in the TGC medium than those obtained in both of the BHI media in spite of the stability of the drug in the TGC medium, whereas no appreciable change could be seen depending upon the length of incubation period (Table 1).
3. In the TGC medium, FF gave highest MIC values (Table 1), in addition, these values increased greatly according as the incubation period increased. These phenomena might be due to rapid inactivation of the drug by the action of reducing agents in the medium (Fig. 2). To the contrary, MIC values were fairly low when determined in either BHI-A or BHI-P medium, moreover, almost no appreciable change was noted by the length of incubation period (Tables 1 and 2).
4. Growth inhibitory effect of NFS to various Clostridia was found to be the lowest among 4 drugs so far tested, especially almost no activity was observed in the TGC medium which might be explained by the rapid destruction of the drug in the medium during incubation (Fig. 2).

　津波が越流することで防波堤の港内側マウンドが洗掘される結果起こるケーソンの滑動・転倒に対して，防波堤港内側のマウンド嵩上げを想定し，嵩上げマウンドの被覆材の安定性に関する基礎的知見を得ることを目的として水理模型実験を行ない，以下の結果を得た．
　被覆材の被災は越流した水塊の打ち込む位置の影響が大きい．被覆石では安定性を維持することは難しい．被覆ブロックにおいては揚圧力を軽減できる孔を有する形状が高い安定性を持つ．また消波ブロックについては，法先の列を固定することで安定化する．

Calcification of the intervertebral disc in adults is not uncommon, and is usually asymptomatic.
We reported a symptomatic case of thoracic intervertebral disc calcification in a 40-year-old man who complained of back pain. Calcification of the intervertebral disc was found roentgenographically between the ninth and tenth thoracic vertebrae. He was treated conservatively, and was symptom-free three months later, but the calcification still remains.

We evaluated the extent of glycation of hair protein (keratin) using a glycation index (A₃₉₀/A₄₁₂) that was calculated from colorations (A₄₁₂, cystine A₃₉₀, glycated protein) of hair that can be quickly obtained by a non invasive procedure and easily stored. The glycation indexes of back hairs from hypercholesterolemic mice with hyperglycemia and diabetic rats were significantly higher 2.3-3.1 fold) than those of normal animals (p<0.05). Their glycation indexes correlated well with levels of glycated protein in hairs (r=0.98, p<0.05) and blood glucose levels (r=0.73, p<0.05). Within run precision (reproducibility, CV) for the assay of glycation index of hair was 6.7-9.4%(n=10).
In conclusion, the proposed glycation index for hair gave reasonable results in animals with normo and hyperglycemia, indicating it to be reliable and diagnostically useful.

Ti-Al-C composite materials were produced by SHS (Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis) -Pseudo-HIP (Hot Isostatic Pressing) method. The self-propagating reaction of Ti, Al and C occurred at aluminum melting temperature (933 K). The synthesis conditions to attain high density materials with finely dispersed particles of Ti-Al-C ceramics were confirmed. The composites synthesized at atomic composition of Ti₄₅Al₄₅C₁₀ consisted of TiAl matrix dispersed with the Ti₂AlC fine particles of 1-5μm. The micro-hardness and yield stress of this material were, respectively, 4.6 GPa and 1.1 GPa which were much higher than those of Ti-46Al. The wear rate of this composite was approximately 80% of pure tungsten and the constanct to sliding rates.

Methylation of 3', 5'-di-O-trityluridine (I) gave a mixture of two compounds, which was detritylated and then separated to give N³, 2'-O-dimethyluridine (V) and 2'-O-methyluridine (VI). After treatment of the above mixture with ethanolic ammonia, the reaction products were detritylated and separated to give V and 2'-O-methyl-cytidine (VII). By a similar method 3'-O-methyl nucleosides were obtained from 2', 5'-di-O-trityluridine (II). The relative rates of acidic hydrolysis of uridine, VI, and 3'-O-methyluridine have been determined and were shown to obey first order kinetics. Introduction of a methoxyl function at the 2'- or 3'-position of uridine enhances the stability of the glycosyl linkage to acid hydrolysis.

ラムスイッチングシステムを用いるUV検出高速液体クロマトグラフィーによる尿中バニルマンデル酸測定法を設定した。検出限界は0.5μg/ml尿であり, 尿処理溶液中のバニルマンデル酸は室温, 室内光下で25時間安定 (CV=2.3%) であった。また6水準濃度のバニルマンデル酸添加尿よりの平均回収率は92%であった。本法の日内および日間変動は濃度3水準の尿で1.1～1.3%および1.9～5.0%であった。他法との相関は, 良好 (r=0.92, n=41) であった
