Risk assessment of technologies and social activities involves subjective judgment as one of its components, which depends on the perception of risk by individuals. In the present study, we undertook a survey of public perceptions regarding the social issues and risks, the images of radiation, and acceptance of its application and health risk.
The majority identified global warming as highly risky among social issues related to technology, and smoking among health-damaging issues, but not radiation-related items such as natural radiation, artificial radiation, and X-ray/CT examinations. In general, a sexual distinction was observed regarding perceptions of sick house and food safety. Forty percent of the public inaccurately believed that the main source of daily exposure was nuclear facilities. Many citizens associated the word of radiation with medical exposure, death/damage/disease and nuclear weapon including A.bomb, and connected the health effects of radiation with cancer and leukemia. However, majority did not bring up any image from the terms of “radiation” and “health effects of radiation”

　2005年に予定されているICRPの新勧告の中に「自然バックグラウンドの世界平均値2.4mSv/年の数倍程度までの線量の電離放射線をたまたま被曝したことは全く心配するには当たらないことが周知されるべきである。」という意味のことを公衆にわかり易く明記してほしいとの要望である

バーチャルリアリティ（virtual reality：VR）技術と拡張現実（augmented reality：AR）技術の飛躍的進歩と低価格化により，解剖学や看護教育，心的外傷後ストレス障害や幻肢痛等の治療法への応用の期待が高まっている．VR技術とは，主にコンピュータグラフィックス技術や実動画の撮影によって現実世界と類似した仮想世界を作成し，感覚受容器に提示（ディスプレイ）し，仮想世界での体験を可能とする技術である．一方，AR技術は，現実世界に仮想モデル（臓器モデル等）を提示する技術とされる．人工的感覚刺激は，現実世界の感覚刺激と比較して精度が低いにもかかわらず，ヒトはなぜ，仮想世界に存在するような感覚を得るのであろうか．さらに，近年注目されている認知症患者を疑似体験する一人称VR体験において，ヒトはなぜ共感を得るのか．VR技術による仮想世界の体験で生じる現象とその医療応用について，脳科学との関係も含め概説する．

This report describes results of reviewing the description concerning to nuclear power or radiation found in about 90 volumes of textbooks of science (general science, physics, chemistry, etc.) and social studies (current social studies, politics and economics), geography and history, and health and athletics, published in the fiscal year 1997 through 1999.
Considerable improvement, especially in the textbooks of science studies, was found in comparison with the previous review carried out for the 236 textbooks which were published before, during 1991 through 1996. In these books, scientifically correct and appropriate descriptions are being made for the fundamental knowledge nuclear energy, radiation units, natural radiation and radioactivity, radiation effects for human bodies, and radiation utilization. On the other hand, however, it was found that fear for nuclear or radiation safety still prevails in several textbooks of social studies. For example, nuclear accident of Chernobyl nuclear power station is cited in 70% of the books reviewed, as the large demerit of nuclear power as an energy source, and some description are made based on incorrect scientific data and biased information. The authors analyzed the present situation from various educational standpoints, and presented several proposals for improving the situation.

今回、原子力発電所立地県にある大学の2年次看護学生に対し放射線の健康影響に関する講義を実施し、その講義前後で東京電力（株）福島第一原子力発電所事故の被災地における放射線の健康影響に関するリスク認知、放射線に対する不安等の変化とその理由が得られたので報告する。アンケートの結果、起こる可能性が低いと回答した割合は、後年に生じる健康障害（講義前：24.3% vs.講義後：94.7%, p<0.001）、次世代以降への影響（47.1% vs. 97.3%, p<0.001）であり、ともに講義後は講義前に比較して有意に放射線リスク認知の改善が見られた。また放射線に関する不安においても同様の結果であった（25.7% vs. 4.0%, p<0.001）。これは、講義前にはこれまで見聞きした情報でリスク認知を判断していたものが、講義後によって科学的根拠が得られ、それに基づいた判断ができるようになったことが影響した可能性が考えられる。

原子力発電所立地自治体のUPZ内にある原子力災害拠点病院1機関を対象に、看護師の放射線に関するリスク認知や、原発近傍地での勤務に対する不安の現状を明らかにすることを目的とし、自記式質問紙調査を行った。看護師179名を対象とし、回答数は179名（回収率100%）であった。その結果、原発が近隣にあることによる放射線の不安を感じている看護師は、8割以上と高い割合を示していた。5割以上の看護師が、低線量被ばくによる晩発的な影響が起こる可能性が高いと認知しており、7割以上の看護師が被ばくによる遺伝的な影響や汚染傷病者の看護において自身に影響が起きる可能性が高いと認知していた。原子力災害拠点病院に勤務する看護師が自信をもって原子力災害医療を展開するために、放射線量、放射線の影響に関する基本的な知識、また患者の防護、看護師自身の防護を実施できるような知識を身につける必要があると考える。
