This paper discusses the relationships between relief energy and types and intensity of erosional processes in an active folding zone in the northeastern margin of the Niigata plain. It is recognized that there is a positive correlation among relief energy, magnitude of erosional processes and intensity of denudation in areas that have relief energy less than 150 m and are underlain by the upper Miocene mudstones. This relationship suggests that the intense areal denudation in the higher relief zone provides an upper limit of relief energy in the areas of less resistant rocks.
In the study area, where denudation is not yet in the equilibrium with uplifting, the relief energy will reflect the amount of uplift. Large amount of uplift is expected to produce large relief energy, and mountainous landscape characterized by large-scale landslide and lack of crest-flats in the southern part of the surveyed area. In contrast with the southern part, in the northern part of the surveyed area, where the amount of uplift is smaller than the southern part, the hilly landscape characterized by the broad crest-flats and numerous gullies are formed in the low relief area.

In the first part of the paper, various attempts on the development of new ironmaking processes in Japan are briefly reviewed.
The decade of 80's is assumed to be the third period of the intensive R & D on new ironmaking and is featured by an anticipation of an appreciable structure change in crude iron supplying system. The blast furnace system itself is changing by introduction of extensive use of coal injection as a possible alternative of cokemaking on which blast furnace process is inevitably based.
The differentiation of the functions of blast furnace and their proper recombination would be the second route of new ironmaking processes, which are called smelting reduction processes (SRP)
In the second part, smelting reduction processes under development in the world are briefly reviewed.
SC, Corex and XR are classified into the shaft type processes and Corex is the only SRP which has been developed to the commercial level. So called in-bath type SRP should be classified in two groups, iron bath and slag bath type.
HIsmlt process has characteristics of iron bath type and DIOS and LPR have features of typical slag bath type process.

To clear the generation processes of the micro-bubbles in swirling flow-type micro-bubble-generators, we study the behavior of the air column, that rotates spirally about the axis of the micro-bubble-generator and the shift pattern from the air column to the micro-bubbles through the orifice plate for two types of micro-bubble-generators, by means of a high speed video camera with 250,000fps in framing rate. It is found that the break-down of the air column takes place around the orifice plate and the corresponding generation of the micro-bubbles.

日系アメリカ移民の日本語新聞『新世界』(サンフランシスコ)を検討し、移民地における新聞の機能と、移民文学との関係について考察した。移民地においては日本国内で刊行された出版物と移民地で刊行されたものの双方が流通しており、その複雑な構成のなかから一世の文学が現れた。また新聞掲載作品を分類・分析すると、それら文学の誕生と維持には連載をはじめとする日本語新聞の機能が不可欠であったことが明らかになる。

はじめに　地域包括ケアシステムの推進において、本人主体の生活行為向上マネジメントの活用が注目されている。興味チェックリストなどを用いた意味ある作業の実現はQOLの維持と向上に重要である。しかし、多くの重症心身障害者は自身の好みや意向を正確に他人に伝えることが困難であり、介護者が本人の気持ちを推し量りながら支援している現状がある。　近年、ヒトの鼻尖の温度変化から、快不快を推定できる可能性が報告されている。今回、サーモグラフィによる測定を試み、妥当性を検討したので報告する。　対象　明らかに笑顔になる視聴覚好物（以下、好物）がある当施設入所の脳性麻痺者5名で、男性3名、女性2名、平均年齢44.2歳（±14.2）、横地分類はA1-Uが2名、A1・A2・A3が1名であった。　方法　測定機器はFLIR Systems社製赤外線カメラFLIR ONEを装着したApple社製iPadで、対象の鼻尖温度を正面約50cmから計った。測定時間は看護記録から覚醒している時間帯を選び、測定場所は測定者と好物以外の刺激がなく、外気温に左右されない部屋で行った。測定は、好物実施1分前、実施中2分間は30秒間隔、実施1分後、2分後、5分後、10分後の計10回行った。鼻尖温度の差の比較は一元配置分散分析を用いた。　結果　対象者全員に好物実施後鼻尖温度が上昇する傾向を認めたが、統計学的な差は認めなかった（p=0.34）。　考察　今回の目的は、重症心身障害児者施設入所者においても、先行研究と同様の結果が得られるか試行することにあったため、好物が明らかな5名を選抜した。結果、実施後に鼻尖温度が上昇する傾向が認められた。　今まで噂の域を出なかった本人の好物や苦手について、確認できる可能性があることがわかった。今後、すべての入所児者の好物や苦手に対して測定し、妥当性を検証しつつ、本人主体の生活支援の実現をめざし、生活行為向上マネジメントの導入に着手する計画である。

新潟県村上市神林地区では，洪水常襲地区の上流域に広がる水田に「落水量調整板」を設置し，大雨時に水田に意図的に雨水を貯留することで，洪水の緩和を図るという「田んぼダム」の取り組みが行われている．本研究では，この「田んぼダム」の洪水緩和機能を流域スケールで検証した．流出解析を行うにあたり，河川·排水路，山地・集落（市街地），水田の3つのモジュール（構成要素）で流域をモデル化した．山地・集落（市街地）モジュールは，Kinematic Waveモデル，水田は水田水収支シミュレーションにより流出量を経時的に計算し，これらを河川・排水路モジュールに横流入量として入力し，不定流解析によって計算を行った．対象とした降雨イベント（日降水量101.8mm，最大時間降水量20.8mm）の場合，調整板を全水田に設置することにより，排水河川である笛吹川および幹線排水路のピーク時流量が25％～29％減少し，0.17～0.23ｍの水位低下をもたらすという結果を得た．また，通常，同程度の日降水量では一部の市街地排水路に溢水が見られるのに対し，計算結果どおりに，実際に現況の調整板設置率（80％）でも溢水は確認されなかった．これらのことから，「田んぼダム」の取り組みは，対象地域の洪水緩和に有効であるということが明らかになった．

The present study presents a new method to estimate the amount of displacement in an active wavelike deformation on the basis of the data obtained from longitudinal profiles of a river terrace and the dip of the basement strata.
Examination is made on the following two assumptions.
Assumption l: The strata which are overlain by terrace deposits were horizontally layered before the neotectonic deformation. After the emergence of the river terrace, the wavelike deformation proceeded in the mode that developed the geological structure of the basement strata at a constant ratio (Fig. 3-B, C).
Assumption 2: The original shape of the river terrace showed a longitudinal profile concave upward (Fig. 3-A).
Assumption 1 means that one of the following equationss holds good. 1. For the displacement which preserves a constant proportion of the change in gradient,

In these equations, (1) α(x) is the change in the gradient at point x after the emergence of the river terrace, (2) j3 (x) is the dip of the layers overlain by the terrace deposits at point x, where k is the constant of proportion, and x indicates the horizontal distance measured from a point located on the lower side of the objective structure along the river course.
Assumption 2 is expressed as follows:

where θ₀ (x) is the original gradient of the river terrace.
The recent gradient of the river terrace, θ(x), is revealed by the following equation:

Because this method depends on the Assumptions 1 and 2, thorough examination of whether these assumptions hold good or not is required for the application of the method. The present method is however, applicable for estimating the amount of displacement of the river terraces located on the middle course of a river.
