アーカイブをめぐる理論的な言説において、ミシェル・フーコーはもっとも多く言及される思想家の一人だと言える。しかしその言及は、『知の考古学』で展開されている独自のアーカイブ概念や、異質な空間をめぐるヘテロトピア概念、また一部の権力論の周辺に偏っている。本稿では、フーコーの初期、中期、後期に渡る思想の展開を、（潜在的な）アーカイブをめぐる思想の発展として位置付け直す見通しを示すことを試みる。具体的には、初期の言説論を資料の中で語られている事柄に関わる議論として、中期のdispositif（装置）論をアーカイブの施設や制度や関連する諸手続きに関わる議論として、そして後期の自己のテクノロジーをめぐる議論を個人レベルでのアーカイブ実践に関わる議論としてとらえ返していく。以上の作業を通して、フーコーの諸概念を、デジタルアーカイブについて考えるための理論的なツールとしてより有効に使えるようにすることを目指す。

Previous research has been limited in dealing with the entirety of the information phenomenon because they have focused their analysis only on the information processing that takes place in a few places. What kind of history does the technology that records all aspects of an individual describe? To answer this question, this paper is a modest beginning to illuminate the various modes of information processing.

    This paper investigates the dynamic interplay between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the humanities, charting their co-evolution through historical and philosophical perspectives. It discusses how AI has reshaped the landscape of technology and intertwined deeply with the humanities, influencing the creation, processing, and interpretation of knowledge.

    The discussion begins by contextualizing the humanities within the broad narrative of information and computation, tracing back from the origins of written language to the advent of AI. It highlights the contributions of pivotal figures like Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, whose early visions of computing and systematic information organization anticipated modern AI innovations. The paper underscores the need to revisit the historical lineage of knowledge systems to grasp fully the implications of AI within the humanities.

    Delving into the semiotic aspects, the paper examines how modern language models, such as OpenAI’s GPT series, have revolutionized natural language processing. It expands the conversation to include AI’s role in creating complex systems of symbols encompassing text, images, and sounds, which has significant repercussions for fields like media studies and semiotics.

    The author contends that the swift advancement of AI technologies offers both opportunities and challenges to the humanities. While AI’s capability to analyze and synthesize vast data arrays can challenge established humanistic methodologies, it also provides innovative tools for creative and analytical endeavors. The paper critiques the potential risks of depersonalizing knowledge processes through AI and advocates for a critical assessment of how these technologies are shaping cultural and ethical norms.

    In conclusion, the paper argues that despite AI’s profound influence on the humanities, the foundational humanistic values of critical thinking, interpretative analysis, and ethical deliberation remain vital. As AI technologies grow more advanced, the humanities are essential in exploring the implications of these technologies on society, ensuring that AI’s development enriches rather than undermines humanistic disciplines.

This paper aims at re-developing the “Information Ecosystem” model proposed in the author’s doctoral thesis. From the author’s eight-year fieldwork, the question of “what is information at the field” has been repeatedly recalled. This fundamental question is regarded as the goal of fieldwork in Informatics. And this paper tries to reexamine the methodology for fieldwork in Informatics, with reference to “Cybernetics” by Wiener, “Autopoiesis” by Maturana & Varela, “Social System” by Luhmann and “Hierarchical Autonomous Communication System” by Nishigaki.

The aim of this article is to reconstruct and analyse “The Weight of the World” written by Bourdieu et al. from the perspective of criticizing neoliberalism, making it possible to understand the subsequent development of the theory of Bourdieu’s sociology. His criticism of neoliberalism resulted in the proposals of the plan for a “transnational social state” and the thesis of “universalising the conditions of access to the universal.” As a result, Bourdieu’s sociology developed into a new theory of state and the universalisation of culture. This suggests the theorical development of his sociology as “anthropology of power and legitimacy,” which differs from the understanding framework of cultural reproduction theory.
