Evaluation of blood chamber's motion and fluid characteristic in the blood chamber are needed to design blood pump and to decide the driving condition of blood pump.
Recent nuclear imaging system is available to evaluate these functional characteristics, visualiging blood chamber's motion and flow in the blood chamber of artificial heart and assist heart blood pump.
Three types of blood pumps are used in this study and compared their characteristics.
(1) Small sac type assist heart blood pump (for dog experiment) made of polyurethane and coated H-USD (Heparinized polyurethane) priming volume 38ml, discoid shape,
(2) Large sac type assist heart blood pump, (for goat experiment) made od polyurethane priming volume 72ml, tongue shape,
(3) Diaphragm type artificial heart pump, (for cow experiment), made of polyurethane, priming volume 150ml, dome shape, (Jarvik type artificial heart pump)
To visualize the blood chambers' motion, blood pumps are drivel in mock circuration and used saline contained RI (99mTcO). Counted datas by scintillation camera were analysed by minicomputer. 1

To visualize the fluid characteristics, we used ion attractive resin attracted RI (99mTcO) in saline of mock circuration and disprayed their fluid pattern on the X-ray filme.
