This article considers the combined use of Japanese nails and Western nails in Uchi-gura of former Nakasuji family house built in 1886. The following points became clear.
The Japanese nails used in this storehouse were second-hand goods, which were 37% cheaper than Western nails. The weight ratio of Japanese nails and Western nails used in this storehouse was 46:54, which was in competition. The reason why Japanese nails were used in a high proportion in the built-in was that Japanese nails were cheaper than Western nails.
