 Mechanical stress during track transportation causes damage to peach fruits, which has a severe negative impact on the commercial value. To reduce this loss, we investigated the damage characteristics caused by random vibrations at five vibration levels (Grms range : 1.03-10.64 m・s-2) in peach fruit (cv. Kanoiwa-Hakutou) differing in firmness over four firmness ranges. The relationship between Grms and vibration time to reflect the commercial value loss was represented by S-N curves. In addition, the S-N curve parameters (α, β) of peach fruit could be predicted according to their firmness level (R2=0.79 and 0.88, respectively). These results show the changes in damage characteristics of peach fruit caused by vibration, and provide a method for loss reduction by controlling the firmness of the fruit during distribution.
