This paper aims at understanding how intangible entities become tangible, by exploring native’s categories of cure/illness and how mediumship operates. The discussion is based on ethnographic fragments collected at a Brazilian Spiritist center in Japan. What “materialize” spirits are their influences over the body of mediums and patients, both in terms of cure or illness. Mediumship, in turn, is another possibility by which spirits “materializes”.
