This paper presents a hardware architecture of particle swarm optimization with multi-swarm strategy (MSPSO) based on field programmable gate array (FPGA) technology. In many non-linear applications, MSPSO algorithm can achieve high performance to figure out an optimum solution. However, software implementation of MSPSO turns to be extremely time-consuming when numbers of iterations and particles become large. The proposed hardware architecture drastically reduces the calculation time to overcome the above problem.
