Nowadays, the inverter-based renewable energy sources in microgrids invoke undesirable influences, such as lowering system inertia and lacking frequency regulation, leading to the weakening of microgrids. A virtual inertia control is proposed to solve such a problem, improving system inertia, impedance and stability. This paper presents new designs of adaptive controllers (i.e., fuzzy logic and PID controllers) based on the concept of virtual inertia control to emulate virtual inertia into the microgrid virtually, thus enhancing system stability and resilience.
