This paper discusses the array arrangement in high-density array antennas using the aperture efficiency as an index to realize high-power large-scale rectenna arrays. Generally, mutual couplings between antenna elements with narrow spacing degrade each element’s gain. However, higher total output DC power is expected by increasing the number of elements in the same area. Performances of a triangular array and square array are evaluated by simulation. It is found that the triangular array provides better performance in a rectenna array.
