The application of the active carbon filter paper method for detection of sulfur oxide in air was studied. Active carbon powder was mixed with tragacanth gum solution, and the mixture was plastered on Toyo filter paper No. 26 in 100 cm2. It was found that the result of measurement by this method was inferior to filter paper method. But the addition of sodium acetate to the active carbon powder improved this method and good results were obtained.
