Automatic developing machine may be divided into broad two classes : one is the machine of roller type and another hanger type from the machinery point of view. The machinery difference of these machine leads to the difference in efficiency of the machine and effect on finishing X-ray photograph. In Osaka Prefectural medical Center of Adult Diseases, two machines of these two kinds have been used for these two years. The machinery of these machines was examined comparatively and the following conclusion was obtained from this examination. 1) In developing and washing, the machine of Roller type (X-OMAT-M4) is superior to one of hanger type (PROCOMAT RAPID-II). 2) The machine of Hanger type has two strong point : the care and repair is very simple and it excels in efficiency. 3) However, this machine of Hanger type is pretty expensive because the hanger which is pretty expensive has to be renewed very often, and it is apt to make a crack on film. 4) In conclusion, the machine of Roller type is better than one of Hanger type.
