This paper deals with the urbanization process in Tsukuba New Town especially from the view of inhabitants' behavior and consciousness to this town. Through our several surveys since 1972, we found out the following facts. 1)There was developing gap between planned residential area and privately owned land before 1980. But after '80, several items indicate the improvement of living environment. 2)There are two types in the changing pattern of urbanization, one is the regular change and another is the abrupt change. Both type should be necessary to realize a balanced and acceptable urbanization.
