Environmental education is not new in the region, and ASEAN countries have developed their own programs of action since The First International Conference on Environmental Education held in Beograd 1975. Member countries are already pursuing various efforts on environmental education; though this is very commendable, no specific plan of action on environmental education for ASEAN had been developed prior the ASEAN environmental education action plan.
