Ca- and Mg-ATPase activities of akazara striated adductor myosin showed a characteristic feature with a minimum value at about 0.16 M KCl similarly to those of chicken gizzard myosin but not of rabbit skeletal myosin.
On the other hand, all of those myosins showed simlar KCl concentration dependences of filament formation. However, the filaments of the chicken gizzard myosin were dissociated by the addition of μM level of ATP, although akazara and rabbit myosin filaments were dissociated upon addition of mM level of ATP.
Accordingly, the relationship between ATPase activity and filament forming ability is not the same in akazara myosin as that in chicken gizzard myosin.
