Comparisons of the amounts of various inorganic salts excreted in the urine and faeces of rabbits and rats were made between the healthy and experimentally induced rachitic animals, especially when vitamin D_2 was injected. The injection of the vitamin caused a decrease of excretion of Ca, P, Fe and Cu in both the healthy and rachitic animals, and in far greater degree in the rachitic animals. On the contrary, the excretion of potassium decreased in the healthy animals, whereas it increased remarkably in the rachitic ones.
