It has been reported that liver succinic dehydrogenase decreased in activity after a partial hapatectomy. However, there has been no report concerning the effect of partial hapatectomy on succinic dehydrogenase activity of the liver under the condition of riboflavin deficiency. Studies on this problem might give us some information on the relation of the enzyme to liver cell regeneration, because the decreased activity of the enzyme by riboflavin restriction might recover in the course of regeneration if the enzyme has any relation to it. The concentration of flavin and the activity of succinic dehydrogenase in the liver was decreased by the deficiency, but tended to recover as the liver regenerated. The high activity of DPNH-diaphorase in the liver was not so much decreased even after partial hapatectomy. These results may indicate that succinic dehydrogenase seems to be related to the regeneration, especially to cell differentiation.
