An expression has been derived for TM
010 mode of standing microwave in cylindrical cavity which has a small dielectric specimen of any shape in it. As the first application of our method, dielectric constants and loss tangents of a single crystal of BaTiO
3 have been measured from room temperature to 170°C at a frequency of 3.3 KMc/s.
The highest dielectric constants which could be measured with our method was about 5, 000.
Above the Curie point, dielectric constants measured at 3.3 KMc/s agree well with those measured at 24 KMc/s by Benedict et al, while the loss tangents measured above 150°C are under 0.01 in our case compared to 0.1 in case of Benedict et al.
