The Himeji Castle is known as a fine castle of the national treasure. About the existence of the garden in castle, these did not understand it so far. However, the garden was drawn on "the painting castle map of Bansyu Himeji Castle" (large painting map) discovered in 1997. The existence of the garden which was magnificent in "Sannomaru Mukou samurai residences" built for feudal lord of Tadamasa HONDA Era by the large painting map became clear. In addition, approximately 80 years of the large painting map making later, feudal lord of Tadazane SAKAI left "Genbu diary". It was written in this diary about "I crossed a pond by ship.
