The time budget of the parent Bengalees for taking foods consisted of the seed of the foxtail millet and the leaf of the cabbage for the nestlings was studied.
The time spent in taking one gram dry weight of the artificially husked seeds of the millet was 15.3 min. and the time spent in taking the same amount of cabbage leaves was 162.6 min. The pattern of change in the total time spent by the parents for feeding nestlings per day was different from that in the total amount of food. The above time increased till the 13th day, after that the increase ceased in spite of the increment of the total amount of food fed to the nestlings, owing to the pattern of the change in the amount of cabbage leaves fed and to the more time consumed in taking the unit dry weight of cabbage leaves than in taking millet seeds.
The total amounts of time usable for the parents other than for feeding for themselves and for brooding were estimated. The ratio of the amount of time spent in taking foods for nestlings to the total amounts of time above mentioned increased monotonously for several days but afterwards the increase almost ceased.

The feeding and breeding habits in the Miyake Island population of the Varied Tit Parus varius in comparison with those of a mainland population were reported in my earlier papers (HIGUCHI, 1975, 1976a). Since that time, an interesting fact was discovered, this being that the island population uses the nuts stored in autumn and early winter not only as the principal food in winter but also as food for raising nestlings and fledglings in the breeding season. Such habits are not known in the mainland population of the Varied Tit and other species of tits, excepting the Siberian Tit Parus cinctus which gives insect larvae stored several days before to the nestlings (HAFTORN, 1973).
The purpose of this paper is to report what proportion of the food brought to nestlings consisted of stored nuts in this island population of the Varied Tit. The nut storing habit of the island population is described briefly in Appendix, since the subject has previously been treated only in Japanese.

Addition No. IV of the present article contains some newly recorded localities of the Japanese Anserine Birds, mostly known from the years between 1975 and 1976. It includes 4 interesting species such as the Blue Goose (Anser c. caerulesence), the Javan Tree Duck (Dendrocygna javanica), Canvasback (Aythya valisineria) and the Surf Scoter (Melanitta perspicillata).
