The medical records of 19 small-breed dogs (≤10 kg) treated with dorsal laminectomy of adjacent vertebrae for multiple cervical intervertebral disk disease between April 2006 and April 2015 were reviewed. After transient postoperative worsening, all dogs regained ambulation at a mean of 8.5 ± 4.72 days after surgery without complications. Recurrence of neck pain was reported approximately 3 months postoperatively in two dogs but was well controlled with conservative management. These findings suggest that dorsal multiple laminectomy is effective for cervical intervertebral disk disease with multiple sites of involvement in small dogs.

A 7-year and 1-month-old female rabbit was presented with severe bleeding from the vulva. A uterine neoplasm was suspected based on the radiographic examination and an ovariohysterectomy was performed. Bead-shaped nodular lesions, each approximately 10 mm in diameter, were observed throughout the uterine horns. Histopathological and immunohistochemical examinations revealed tubular/solid adenocarcinoma and leiomyoma in the uterus, and a collision tumor consisting of both tumor types was also observed. No tumorous proliferations were detected in the uterine cervix, anterior vagina or ovaries. The rabbit survived for 3 years and 1 month after the surgery without ever exhibiting tumor metastasis or recurrence.

A 15-year-old intact male miniature pinscher was presented for difficulty eating. Oral examination revealed an ulcerative lesion on the ventral anterior one-third of the tongue surrounding the frenulum. Histopathology revealed that the lesion was squamous cell carcinoma. The dog underwent total glossectomy with an aim of complete surgical resection of the tumor. The dog could eat unaided after surgery, but could not drink and developed moderate dehydration. Therefore, a gastrostomy tube was placed to administer water. The quality of life of the dog remained acceptable until 18 months after surgery, when the dog died with dyspnea from neoplastic thoracic effusion. Lung metastasis of the tongue tumor was suspected.
