In this papes a problem for welded girders with intermediate stiffeners which are placed on webs inequidistantly to avoid some bad effects caused by welding arc flame or welding heat, is treated by the theory of elastic stability. Fig. I. In the following discussion we have assumed that the rectangular web plates, to which intermediate stiffeners are welded, are freely suppoated on their bounderies when they are welded at the top and the lower flanges of girders and attached by the comparatively rigid stiffeners and studied hav studied the elastic stability of the web plates subjecting shearind forces. Fig. 2.
The method employed in tnis paper is the energy method as seen from section 2. The results are shown by Tables 1-4 in which the buckling modulus k for various values of spacing ratio of stiffeners a, width ratio of plates β and flexual rigidities of stiffeners r are obtained. More detailed discussion may be seea by authors report of R. I. W. which will be published in the near future.
