The purpose of this study was to make clear the reasons for the geat dissatisfaction among patients suffering from minary incontinence in relation to the ef fect of their QOL.
The study was based 67 patients with responses from 64.
In comparing the effect on QOL of the urge incontinence group and stress incontinence group not much difference was found exccpt on how the patients felt about their own health.
From the KHQ survey, about the effect on QOL, the urge incontinence group complained mainly about psychological factors and the stress incontinence group complained mainly about psychological factors and phisical effects, such as the need to change absorbent pads etc., plus limitations on their social life.
Reasons for dissatisfactions in the urge incontinence group were frequency of urinating and involuntary leaking of urine and the pressing need to deal with it.
In relation to the ⅡQ's 5 types of psychological reaction (Fear, Anxierty, Frustration, Anger and Depression) it was shown that both groups suffered from their self confidence having been undermind as a result of their incontinence.
The character of the patients complaints differed in relation to the type of incontinence they were suffering from.
It is absolutely essential that in addition to the treatment for their actual incontinence patients are helped to overcome any feelings of depression etc., they may have arising from their condition.
